Summertime “feels”
It’s been a great summer. The weather, not too hot or too cold. Some smoke, not too much, and lots of fun.

I attended Fairwell Fest again this year. The music line-up sucked me in. I ended up feeling old, exhausted, and reminded I don’t like money grubbing big corporations that over sell a venue, and then don’t even provide enough hand sanitizer to get through the weekend. But the music and performances were very good. My favorites: Brent Cobb, Sierra Ferrell, Cody Jinks, REK,Tyler Childers, Sturgill Simpson.
Fairwell Fest was packed
That was followed by a trip to see my grown-up kids. I have a daughter who just moved to Spokane, and my son has been in Driggs, ID for about 18 months. I hadn’t seen either of them in their new places and needed to see them where they live and experience what they are living. The trip included live music, a trail ride in the Tetons, a hike, and lots of driving. It was fabulous.

Next was my fortieth class reunion from Bend Senior High. yes, I said 40. Some of the people I saw over the weekend I attended 1st through 12th grade with. Bend High, didn’t have a reunion leader. I helped arrange a date, and I hosted a little gathering with my besties, but I didn’t have the time or desire to plan a big formal event, and apparently no one else did either.
40 years ago, Bend had two middle schools and 2 high schools. The middle schools were divided and 1/2 went to Mountain View High School, and 1/2 went to Bend High. It was sad and tragic at the time, but the kids all ended up crossing over with friends from each school. It was a very special benefit. It made our community of just over 30,000 even closer. The organizer of Mountain Views’s reunion, Brian Tompkins, was generous enough to combine the two events for one big “40ish reunion bash” The people who wanted to be there showed up. Great attiudes, funny stories, bug hugs, and lots of laughs left me hoarse and exhausted after the weekend.

On Sunday morning I woke up to the sweetest text from my new favorite friend and client. I helped her find a house this spring, and she’s so happy and in love with her home, that she wrote a love letter to her broker… I cried.

That was the final “feels” for my fabulous summer. Great music, fabulous children, old special friends, and amazing clients that make the work I do feel meaningful and purposeful.
I’m very happy to have called Central Oregon HOME for so many years. Now it’s time to slow down and get out for more hikes!
