Bend, OR
Whetn people first visit Bend, I often suggest they get to the top of Pilot Butte. It’s a Central spot and it’s a good hike or an easy drive to the top. Once on top you get a real lay of the land and can see that Bend is really in a high desert. The Cascade Mountains run North and South and serve as a divide between the State. Clouds carrying percipitation falls in the form of snow and rain on the mountain and leave the east side of the state sunny and dry. I like this view from the top. From here, Bend looks a lot like it did in the 1980’s when I was in high school. Part of training for the Bend High Tennis team was “running the Butte” I still do it, but mostly I walk.
After I left for College, the Parkway went in. It is also called business 97, and divides the town in half; east side and west side. I sell houses on both the eastside and the westside. My kids went to school on the westside because we lived on that side of town, but during high school we located to an area near Bend Senior High. That’s where I’ve stayed. An in town location where chickens and an old trailer, are allowed but still a bike ride to town, and trails at the end of the street. It’s my happy compromise between a rural horse property, an adorable downtown historic house, or a fabulous view house on Awbrey Butte. I’ve watched new neighborhoods go in, seen the areas where people stay, and seen the areas where people leave for one reason or another.
After a lifetime in a town you know the schools, the traffic, the sun, the prices, the pros and the cons.
We are lucky in Bend to have so many areas to find your space. Little lots for easy maintenance, large lots for privacy. Close to Golf, Close to the road to Mount Bachelor. Close to schools. Lots where protective CC&R’s keep things looking beautiful, and areas where there are no CC&R’s and NO neighbors complain about your airplane rebuild project. Some areas have junipers, some have ponderosas. Some you can get around by bike, others you must have an e-bike.
My job is to show you Bend, listen to your needs, your dreams, your priorities and your budget. Some Cowgirls want to have their ponies on the front pasture and mountain views beyond them. Some want their ponies boarded and an easy living modern townhome near a Bakery. You get to choose and I love to help.
I’ve traveled, and I’ve lived away. Coming home to Bend is always a wonderful thing. It smells good and we have all of the amenities of a big city, but also the benefits of a small, outdoors focused town. And the water… well the water is worth mentioning.
Drink the water from the tap.
I LoVE Bend, and I love to share.
