Good People
This stealthy truck is filled with furniture and home styling magic
Getting a listing ready for market always involves a lot of moving parts. It’s important to put your best foot forward, because often the most educated, qualified, and ready to go buyers and agents see the property first. That means coordinating repairs, painting, carpet cleaning, window washing, house stageing, and photography, is a dance of schedules and timeframes with busy professionals.
Recently, my client had done all of the hard stuff. Furniture had been removed that the stager had said she didn’t want to use, nail holes patched in the walls and the lightbulbs were matching. The photographer was scheduled for Monday right after the stager…. and then the stager went a little dark. Communication slowed to a trickle, and consisted of one word responses like “great”. The day before the professional home stager is set to arrive, she replies to my confirmation text.. “I haven’t been feeling well; I went to the doctor and I have Covid” sorry.
I was stunned. Sick. Mad that the stress I was feeling around her poor communication was a sign to find a new stager. I was on my way to meet Julie, my friend with decorating experience and great taste at the downtown Farmers Market. She’d have ideas. I sent out a few frantic texts to agents I love and trust looking for ideas and names before I hopped on my bike and headed for downtown. When I got there, the first person I ran into was Suzanne, my old business partner from Cowgirl Cash. The owner of Arrange Styling and Design and my go to for anything Design and Style related. As Julie and Suzanne and I were talking in the midst of the market about my dilemma, another dear friend came up. Judy. Judy can design, improvise and get anything done. In a matter of minutes, these women were on board to help me get this house staged and ready for photos. The great furniture and art was there. We just needed to “Juggeee” it up. Does anyone know how to spell this word? aka spice it up.
I checked my messages and one stager who was referred to me, texted me back. She wanted to know the scope of the job because her business partner was out of town(Understandable, it was July 2). She would be doing it solo.
Sarah met me at the house for a Quick Look, and the next morning she arrived with a truck organized and ready to furnish a house.
My problem was solved. The house looks amazing. I found a new home staging company, and I was left with the realization that I have resources… An important thing to have in real estate.
I decided a good phrase for my headstone when needed could be “She surrounded herself with GOOD People”
This blog is about the skills of the professional that saved my bacon this week… but also what about this house???
